3 things you can do to be healthy during pregnancy!

But only because I care  If you are pregnant, remember what YOU eat/drink/take, your BABY eats/drinks/takes in, too. You want to be in the BEST possible health for you & your little one 

So what are 3 things you can do to be healthy during pregnacy? 

1) Yep! EXERCISE. Some women think that pregnancy is a time to sit back and put their feet up. Not so! For most women, it’s important to be active during pregnancy. In fact, exercise during pregnancy can be really good for you.

Healthy pregnant women need at least 2½ hours of exercise each week. This is about 30 minutes each day. If this sounds like a lot, don’t worry. You don’t have to do it all at once. Instead, split up your exercise by doing something active for 10 minutes three times each day.

What can exercise during pregnancy do for you?

✔Keep your heart, body and mind healthy
✔Help you feel good and find the extra energy you need
✔Help you stay fit and gain the right amount of weight during pregnancy
✔Ease some of the discomforts you might have during pregnancy, like constipation, backaches, trouble sleeping and varicose veins (swollen veins)
✔Prevent health problems like preeclampsia and gestational diabetes
✔Help your body get ready to give birth
✔Help reduce stress
*Consult with your doctor what exercises are safe for you

2) Give up CAFFEINE. It won't kill you, I promise Your baby can't process it efficiently & doesn't need it! It also keeps your body from absorbing much-needed Iron & other nutrients. Read about the side effects here:http://www.babycenter.com/caffeine-during-pregnancy

3) PLEASSSE NO DIET SODAS ladies!! Regular soda is still terrible for you AND baby (because of the high fructose corn syrup, caffeine...the list goes on), but "diet" drinks are FAR worse.
You want to avoid any food/drinks that are labeled"DIET", "SUGAR-FREE", "LIGHT" because this is typically a red flag that is contains ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS like Aspartame. This also means NO Sweet & Low, No Splenda sugars as well!

Sad, but TRUE STORY: I worked with a women who's daughter was born blind in one eye along with several other health problems. Her doctor verified that it was a result of her drinking diet soda while she was pregnant. Pretty scary, right?!
If you're looking for the bubbly drink, try All Natural flavored Sparkling Water or even Club Soda with a lemon or lime! Refreshing & healthy!

Clean Margherita Pizza

Clean eating Margherita pizza recipeIngredients:
Nonstick cooking spray

1 (16-oz.) package whole wheat pizza dough, at room temperature

2 tsp. extra-virgin olive oil

¼ cup tomato sauce, no sugar added

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1 medium tomato, sliced

¼ cup whole basil leaves, torn in small pieces

Preparation:
1. Preheat the oven to 450° F.

2. Lightly coat 12-inch pizza pan with spray. Starting at the center, and moving outward, use your fingertips to press dough to ½-inch thick. Stretch dough until it won't stretch any further. Let dough relax for 5 minutes; continue to stretch to desired diameter.

3. Drizzle oil over dough; spread with a pastry brush to the edges.

4. Spread tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a quarter-inch border.

5. Layer with cheese, tomato, and basil.

6. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes, or until crust is golden brown and cheese is bubbling.


Total Time: 33 min.

Prep Time: 15 min.

Cooking Time: 18 min.

Yield: 6 servings
